Password-Protected Reports in Cyrisma

Last updated: December 23, 2025

To protect sensitive security data, all reports generated in Cyrisma can be password-protected. This ensures that vulnerability, compliance, and data classification reports remain secure if they are downloaded, stored, or shared.

This article explains why reports are password-protected, how to enable the feature, and how to retrieve report passwords.

Why Reports Are Password-Protected

Cyrisma reports often contain sensitive information, including:

  • Vulnerability findings

  • Compliance and baseline results

  • Sensitive data discovery outcomes

Password protection helps:

  • Prevent unauthorized access to downloaded report files

  • Reduce risk if reports are shared externally or stored insecurely

  • Align with security best practices for handling assessment data

Enabling Password Protection for Reports

Password protection for reports is disabled by default and must be enabled manually.

To enable it:

  • Navigate to Admin → System Configuration

  • Locate the Password-Protected Reports setting

  • Set the option to Yes

  • Save your changes

Once enabled, all newly generated reports will require a password to open.

Downloading Reports and Retrieving Passwords

When a report is generated and ready for download:

  • A confirmation window appears

  • Next to the Download Report button, a copy-to-clipboard icon is displayed

  • Clicking this icon copies the report password

The downloaded report cannot be opened without this password.

Finding Passwords in the Report Builder

You can retrieve report passwords after generation using the Report Builder.

To do this:

  • Navigate to the Report Builder

  • Select the Generated Reports tab

  • In the Action column, locate the password icon for the report

  • Hover over the icon to view the password, or click the clipboard icon to copy it

Generated reports remain available for 4 hours from the time they are created.

Opening a Password-Protected Report

When opening a downloaded report:

  • Your system prompts you for a password

  • Paste the copied password to access the report contents

Without the password, the report cannot be opened.

Summary

  • Report password protection increases security for sensitive assessment data

  • The feature must be enabled in system configuration

  • Passwords are available at download time and from the Report Builder
